Disarticulation Floating Out To Sea is Laceface’s new song coming out on 11 July 2025.

It has been a very long time since I recorded anything. It’s difficult to keep going when you are a greatly unknown artist and one who naturally shies away from attention. The push to get it out is exhausting and now that I’m older than ever, my desire for external approval has lessened. My faith in human kind also dwindled with recent years events and I wondered why I should put anything from my soul out into the cold heartless world. It’s not from lack of inspiration. Music lives in my being and I awake every day with new melodies and harmonies. It’s a gift and a curse.

One day I decided it was time to break the ice and dip my toes back into the cold heartless ocean of humanity.

The result is Disarticulation Floating Out To Sea and it will be out on 11 July 2025.

How can I describe it? Well, there’s cellos and heavy drums. Lots of cellos. There is a fair amount of atonality and chromaticism in this but lots of relatable melody, catchy rhythms and a very chunky hearty melody of a coda. And it’s heavy.

Most of my joints are very loose. You can pull my finger and instead of stinky smells and noises, my finger will come out of its socket. You can do the same to my wrists and ankles, my hips, my sacroiliac. It’s like my body wants to disarticulate itself joint by joint. It’s a real effort to drag my weary carcass around now. The only obstacle to that is my very rubbery flesh holdings it all together. Luckily. Sometimes I imagine all my body bits floating out to sea as I wave goodbye from the shore. It’s that nasty lace poisoning.

Thankfully, I can still play my cello. However, dis-articulation is not such a great thing if you’re talking technical cello terms and a lack of articulation is a good cellist’s worst nightmare. Disarticulation is a punny little title and makes me giggle on the inside.
